Government Funds Available for Green Building Technologies

The North Carolina Green Business Fund will distribute $8.3 million in stimulus money in 2010 to encourage the development and commercialization of promising renewable energy and green-building technologies, according to the N.C. Board of Science and Technology.
Those who are eligible for the federal stimulus monies include for-profit businesses with 100 or fewer employees, non-profit organizations, state agencies and local governments that are pursuing innovative commercial technologies, products and services that will grow a green economy in the state.
The maximum grant amount is $500,000, but most awards will be significantly smaller. The deadline for pre-proposals of 750 words or less is Jan. 19, 2010. Officials will invite select applicants to submit project proposals on Jan. 29. The closing date for proposals is March 15.
