Sustainability designers and engineers from the prestigious Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) will join a diverse group of Catawba College professors in the summer of 2011 to offer a transformative experience for high school students from across the nation. The theme for the experience will revolve around environmental stewardship.
The Center for the Environment at Catawba College will host “Redesigning the World: The National Youth Environmental Summit,” a five-day intensive experience for rising high school juniors and seniors. The summit will be followed by webinars and networking opportunities, all of which will provide knowledge and skills that will help the participants become change agents in their environmental classes or clubs and their schools.
The students will have an opportunity to express their interest in the environment in a variety of ways: through literature and writing, science, mathematics, theater and music.
RMI is a market-oriented, entrepreneurial, nonprofit, nonpartisan “think-and-do tank” that advises companies and governments worldwide on sustainability matters.
