EnviroMingles hosted by the Center for the Environment

Coming soon: information on the next EnviroMingle

Each of the Center for the Environment's four EnviroMingles have brought over 100 people together to network and build relationships. “We had a vast array of different organizations and individuals at the event who would like to partner with the Center on everything from clean air and a virtual farmers’ market to healthy food and green design,” says John Wear, the Center’s executive director.
A Step in Time in downtown Salisbury provided a beautiful location for the June EnviroMingle, while the other hosts, the  Salisbury Wine Shop, F&M Bank, and Blowin' Smoke BBQ, supplied food and drinks. Previous EnviroMingles have been held at the Green Goat Gallery and Restaurant 46, and other hosts include Blue Ewe Yoga, Jon Palmer JP+A Architect, PLLC, and Pinocchio's of Spencer. Co-sponsors include Land Trust for Central North Carolina and Kannapolis Business Alliance.

City leaders and representatives from Castle & Cooke, the Research Campus, and the Chamber of Commerce mingled with business owners and staff from the Center for the Environment.

Mothers who have a keen interest in buying local produce for their families talked to bankers who know that dirty air has economic implications. Doctors who treat people with respiratory diseases talked to business people who are working to make their companies energy-efficient.

“We wanted to bring together all the people who have worked as volunteers, who have given their time and money to support the Center’s activities,” said Executive Director John Wear. “We also wanted to bring together those who might want to learn more about our work.

“People shared their ideas with us and learned more about the Center,” Wear said. “And I think everybody had a really good time getting to know others who share common values.”
