CHARITABLE LEAD TRUSTS:
A trust is an agreement that holds legal title to assets, which are managed by a trustee and distributed to your specifications.
Charitable Lead Trusts:
Establishing a charitable lead trust with the Center for the Environment at Catawba College allows you to start supporting our efforts immediately. Through this agreement, annual payments are distributed to the Center during your life or for a specific number of years, with the remainder payable to your beneficiaries (e.g. family members). You determine the length of time payments are made and the amount of the annual distributions, which can be a fixed percentage or dollar amount. There are generally two types of charitable lead trusts: grantor and non-grantor trusts. There are significant differences in the tax benefits and laws applicable to each type. Please consult your tax adviser for more information.
